retreat faqs

What level of experience does my practice need to be at for the yoga classes?

It probably is best that you have some background in a hatha/vinyasa practice.  It will be difficult but not impossible for a first time practioner.

What is the schedule like?

Typical day; coffee & fruit served at 7:30 am.  Morning classes at 9 am to about 10:30 am. After class, an assortment of fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, toast and smoothies will be served.  The middle part of the day is yours to explore the beaches. take an excursion, or just hang out.  We’ll have an afternoon class, typically some sort of workshop from Yin to Inversions, from 5 pm to 6 15 pm.  Dinners will be scheduled at 7:30 pm

What is the food like?

The big picture; the retreat will focus on lots of organic vegetarian faire and fish, but no poultry no meat. We have worked with the chef on prior retreats, he is kind of amazing.

The breakfasts are healthy and light, while we are providing all of the lunches it might be fun to explore the local food scene one afternoon.  A typical lunch might include fresh ceviche, guacamole, and a salad. One of the week’s lunches will be a boxed to go, to take wherever you might be headed.  Dinners will be take place on the 3rd story hotel deck over looking the hillside. It’s a great setting, candlelit with tunes in the air. It’s a time to bond, meet new people, and share a drink and some laughs. On New Years Eve, we are heading to the beach to have a seafood BBQ on the sand, maybe make an offering for the new year, it’ll be a very special night.

Is airfare covered in the retreat price?

No it is not, but airfare to Puerto Vallarta is typically inexpensive if booked early, but this is the Christmas holiday, so as of now the airlines have increased the prices for that time period, keep an eye out on pricing and book early.

I have arrived in Puerto Vallarta, how do I get to where I need to be?

Sayulita is a about an hour drive from the airport.  We will accumulate everyone’s travel arrangements and provide your transportation to the hotel.

What is the weather like?

Low 80s during the day, 60s at night

What is included in the retreat?

Yoga classes during the stay, 1 massage, breakfast and smoothies each morning, all of your lunches & dinners.

We will provide beach towels, so no need to pack them.  Beer, wine and a tequila bar will accompany dinners.

What are the rooms like?

They are brand new, clean and comfortable. All have A/C, all have a mini fridge. The wireless is dependable, hot water also dependable.  Shared rooms will be limited to 2 people, unless special arrangements are made.  The reality is they are all super clean & comfortable.

What if I have a medical emergency?

Sayulita has good medical facilities, and hospital nearby.  There are also pharmacies throughout town.

Are yoga mats and props provided?

Hotelito has yoga mats and blocks etc.  We still suggest you bring your own mat.

What kind of spa services are available and how much are they?

Each attendee receives one free massage, and then can book additional treatments. Prices are reasonable approximately $50/massage.

Are surf lessons and surfboard/paddle board rentals?

Yes, the beach close by is a known surf spot, about a 10 minute walk.  Everything is for rent and lessons are readily available.  Not so much on the SUP front, that requires more planning, and we tried it out and do not recommend it.

What time is check in and check out?

1 P.M.

What is Sayulita like.

While the town is somewhat of a tourist town, it is very Mexican.  Prices are reasonable, from high end to mass artisan shops and also some local really cool unique shops.  Everything is available in town, (a 10 minute walk from the retreat hotel), from bikinis, flip flops, suntan products etc.  The town works in Pesos not dollars.  There are exchange places all over town with less then fair exchange rates, and ATM machines that will dispense Pesos.  It is suggested you come down with at least a few hundred dollars of Pesos. Not all places take charge cards, but most do.

Clothing

Yes, a good idea, but understand this town is super casual, really casual.  So, cool loose beachy tropical is all you will need.  Anything fancier you will feel out of place.NYE, will we are doing a private dinner on a beach, so be your own guide on this one.
