How do I sign up for the program??
What style of yoga is the Sweat method?
Sweat is a vinyasa-based school focusing on fluid movement, breath and body awareness. Specific flows are sequenced at Sweat to deepen students’ experience of yoga. Classes are themed to flow specific sequences of Sun Salutations that are set up to individualize a personal practice for each student in the room. Sweat offers modifications and classes that satisfy individual levels from beginner to advanced practices.
How experienced do I have to be?
We welcome all students – from beginner yoga students all the way to “quite” experienced.
I have an injury- can I still sign up for the training?
Depending on your injury, we recommend you check with a physician before signing up for the program. With a doctor’s release, minor physical limitations can also be a learning experience for you and fellow students.
What if I don’t want to teach?
All the more reason to sign up! Even if you don’t want to teach in front of groups of people you will deepen your awareness of your personal practice, gain knowledge of the yoga philosophy and have a skill that you can reintroduce at any stage in your life. This program is great for those who want to have a transformational experience and be involved in a yoga community.
What is the cancellation and refund policy?
A $700 dollar deposit is due to hold your spot in the training. If you cancel 30 days before the start date of the training you will forfeit $350 dollars of your deposit and the rest will be refunded. If you cancel 14-30 days before the program start date, the deposit will be forfeited and the remaining balance will be refunded.
If you cancel 14 days before the start of the program, or do not attend the program, the entire tuition and deposit is nonrefundable and nontransferable.
What is the financing policy?
We understand paying for teacher training can be a burden and we want to help. We will finance your teacher training over 8 months interest free, with a $50 set up charge. Note that we cannot offer a discount from the $3,400 full price if financed. For more information, click here.
What are the graduation requirements?
In order to graduate from the program you must attend in-class training sessions, required number of classes, participate in an in-class final practice teaching, and complete all homework, quizzes and a final exam.
How much time should I expect to spend on homework?
Expect 3-4 hours a week of homework. The homework is designed to support your integration of the material to deepen your skills as an instructor and your personal practice. If you are not planning on teaching you can take the course for non-credit and won’t be required to complete homework or quizzes. However, if you wish to receive your Diploma and Letter of Completion you must attend all sessions and complete all homework assignments.
What is the attendance and makeup policy?
To comply with Yoga Alliance requirements you must attend 100% of the classes. We understand that conflicts come up and have devised a plan listed below.
Schedule a private session with your trainer at some point during the program.
1 hour private = 1-4 hours missed time
1.5 hour private= 5-6 hours of missed time
2 hour private= 7-8 hours of missed time
Please note that privates are subject to trainer availability. You can miss a maximum of 20 hours during each module, and you will have one year from the completion of the program to make up the missed hours. If you miss more than 20 hours of each module or do not complete the make up hours you will receive a not passing status.
I took a 200-hour course with another school, can I take a portion of this course to learn the Sweat method?
Yes! We welcome instructors to take our course and learn our unique method. Those who are already 200-hour certified will be required to take the second half of the training to learn our method and sequencing techniques. Tuition for those who are already certified and want to teach at Sweat is $700.
Can I put my membership at Sweat on hold during the training?
When you enroll in our 200-hour program you are welcome (and encouraged) to practice at Sweat as much as possible with free access to the studio. This benefit starts the day you pay your deposit and lasts until the last day of the program.
Are books and materials included in the price of the training?
The Sweat Yoga teacher training manual is included in the program. You will need to purchase the other required books. We have arranged a discount with an online vendor.
What is Yoga Alliance?
Yoga Alliance is an organization started in 1999 as a way to create standards for yoga teachers and yoga trainings in the United States. Yoga Alliance registration is not a legal requirement for teaching yoga, however more and more yoga studios across the U.S are requiring teachers to have this registration to insure safety and knowledge of the practice. The Sweat trainings are approved by Yoga Alliance and upon completion you will receive a certificate from Yoga Alliance proving that you are nationally registered.
Will I be qualified to teach yoga after completion of this program?
Yes! Will successful completion of all the requirements and hours of the program you will receive a diploma and letter of completion from Sweat. You will also be able to register with Yoga Alliance at the RYT-200 hour level.
Will I get hired at Sweat Yoga upon completion?
Sweat Yoga is currently expanding in California and New York and we are always looking for new instructors. Depending on your skills as an instructor, and intake of the course those who complete our training will be first on our hiring lists.
